Julie Malone
Julie Malone
Malone’s oil paintings are reactionary expressions of humanity and the abundant beauty of our environment. The reflective nature of light and our relationship to color stimulates and syncs enabling me to express them with color and form. She is fascinated with color and how it affects our emotions.
Her artistic style in formal terms is considered Atmospheric Abstraction. Often another description used is Abstract Atmospheric Landscapes. This is because oftentimes my painting offers a suggestion of a landscape, some paintings may even have a defined horizon in combination with biomorphic shapes referencing organic matter.
She begins each piece with several color washes, much like a watercolorist adding a water-like element. This process develops the overall composition. Then she makes marks and brushstrokes, adding depth and form. The build up of layers then begin to capture and reflect a visual energy.
Life is a constant discovery, a rapid succession of wonderment and awe. Malone believes her job as an artist is to create a visual image that allows one to pause; an escape from the daily duty. To reduce or calm anxiety. To relax one’s thoughts while exploring a visual curiosity. I hope to entertain one’s senses by offering an imaginative place where one may experience an extraordinary reflection of life’s goodness.
